The book covers really great tips on what is appropriate for the work environment in all circumstances. It is an easy read, straight forward and I highly recommend it for everyone to read. I'm always interested in learning the techniques, methods, and thinking of other accomplished photographers, especially when it comes to one of the most challenging areas of contemporary photography--location lighting. Essentially, this book provides detailed thinking and examples of how the examples were put together--what tools were used, the circumstances of the shoot, etc.

About the Author
Peggy Rowe Ward received Dharma teacher Transmission form Thich Nhat Hanh in 2000 at Plum Village, France. She has a Doctorate in adult education and a Master’s degree in counseling psychology. She has published in professional adult education journals on women’s stories of coming into voice, Her doctoral publications are connected to community centered dreamwork. She has had short essays published in In Our Own Voice (1992) and in The Mindfulness Bell. She co-authored Making Friends with Time (2000) with Tracy Sarriugarte.

Larry Ward has celebrated over 30 years as a Christian minister. He received Dharma teacher transmission from Thich Nhat Hanh in 2000 in Plum Village, France. Larry was an executive director in an international organization engaged in human development programs in 52 countries. He has lived for extended periods in Hong Kong, India, and the Caribbean. He has published articles and poems for Emerging Lifestyles, Edges, and The Mindfulness Bell magazines. In 2006 he was commissioned by the United Nations to write a paper on mindfulness and leadership.

practical advice for creating loving relationships

Though I feel I have a successful relationship with my husband of 21 years, the teachings and exercises in this book gave me many "aha" moments.
The depth of wisdom and the personal connection the authors exhibit through their sharing is inspiring and motivates me to work more consciously with my own relationships.
Stories from many others highlight the messages and guidelines in the book.
Great for those new to consciously creating deep, intimate relationships and also for those who have been at it for a long time. Would be wonderful to use as a study guide in a group setting.

Cultivating qualities of the heart

The authors, married and ordained by Thich Nhat Hanh, use his approach to Buddhist teachings in this guide to loving oneself, one's partner, and the world. I appreciate the Buddhist understanding that we must love ourselves before we are capable of truly loving another. Especially strong in this book is the section on relationship to an intimate partner. Peggy and Larry's personal stories about their struggles are candid and quite helpful. They also include vignettes written by others about working through sticky events in their relationships. My husband and I went through this section together, reading and doing the exercises. We found it wonderfully pushy, encouraging honesty with yourself and your partner and vulnerability in owning up to one's own "unskillfulness" and fears. The book also reminded us of the importance of spending quiet time together regularly with no TV, no computer, no phone, no car. It is very easy to become addicted to these. We have recommitted to a real "sabbath" on Sundays, with no technologies and no work on the agenda. It is amazing how that simple decision changes the quality of the relationship. I recommend this book for anyone interested in cultivating the qualities of the heart.

Wonderful Read, Transformational Energy!

Love's Garden is written by two master gardeners: Peggy Rowe Ward and Larry Ward. In a brilliant writing style, they weave in solid mindfulness practices and share sweet, personal examples. "Mindful Relationships" is a missing link in the mindfulness world. With their teacher, Thich Nhat Hanh giving the introduction, the book begins with loving, dynamic energy. As a therapist, yoga teacher and mindfulness meditation practicioner, I have found this book to be nothing less than outstanding in its substance and process. I bow to these fine teachers!

I ended up printing a lot of it. There are rubrics and tables that are not easy to use in an electronic format. In my school, I am not required to use IPA, so this is not something I use as described in the book, but I find this useful.
