Passionate Love!

I must admit I cried while reading this book, desperately wanting to do a better job of walking in love. I have read scriptures over and over in the bible wanting to know what love looks like, tastes like, feels like. I do know this, it is a supernatural experience. When you are born again into the body of Christ, the love of God is shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Spirit. You actually get God's love in you. I really believe being led by this supernatural love is how you are truly led by the Holy Spirit.

With that being said, this book is a great, quick read. Something to keep on your nightstand and read before you fall asleep. I also think it can be used in the morning during your devotion time. This is definitely a book for your collection, and since it is Christmas, the perfect stocking stuffer. I agree with Joyce Meyer's prayer; Lord, Reduce Me to Love!

On a side note, I have a special appreciation for Joyce Meyer. About 8 years ago, before I was an author and anyone knew my name, I emailed Joyce asking for prayer for a personal issue. She responded with a long heartfelt email and sent me a free tape series. This let me know, that her love walk, is truly authentic.

This book truly inspired me to take my "Love walk" to the next level. In all honesty, the first time I read it - I wasn't really into it. I wasn't quite mature in the things of God at that time, and frankly didn't know how much He truly loved me, so it was impossible for me to even grasp that kind of love. A few years later, I came back to read it and it blew my mind. Practicing selfless love isn't easy, but all things are possible through Him! This book really put "love" into perspective for me. The agape love of Christ is so beautiful and He uses Joyce to guide us into receiving that love and shows us how to better show that love to our brothers and sisters in Christ. You'll enjoy it too!

Third in Bone Secrets Series

After reading the first two books in this series, I was excited to get my hands on this pre-release third installment. This book features Michael Brody, the ex-boyfriend/now good friend of Lacey Campbell from book one.

Twenty years after a school bus filled with children disappears, the remains are finally found. Michael Brody's brother, Daniel, was one of the children who disappeared. Bodies are being unearthed and identified, but the remains of two of the boys are not there. One missing corpse is Chris Jacobs, who managed to escape after a couple years of captivity, and made it home to his family. He was severely scarred, both physically and emotionally, and became an amnesiac hermit who to this day keeps his whereabouts unknown.
As you might guess, the other boy not found is Michael's brother, Daniel. The clues that arise from the findings/remains of the other children only point to more questions, and Michael will not rest until he finds the answers he seeks.

Chris Jacobs (the one who survived), has only one family member left, his sister Jamie who is now a school principal. Since Chris left home, Jamie has never known of Chris' whereabouts, and only has a message number to reach him.
Desperate to find out what happened to his missing brother, Michael is determined to find Chris. He is convinced that Chris does not really have amnesia, and assumes he remembers things that are keeping him in hiding. Being the only known link to Chris, Michael contacts Jamie and after events convince her she has little choice, she joins Michael in the search for her brother.

Like any good mystery/thriller, this story has a very satisfying blend of intrigue, action, and heart pounding scenes. If I had to find a negative, I would say that I knew very early on who was probably responsible for the mass murders. I don't feel it detracted much from the story though, because I did not know the motivation until close to the end. There is a wonderfully surprising twist near the end that helps explain the motivation, and it all ties up nicely.

Of all the things I liked about this book, one of my favorites is how everything finally comes together. The ending was not too abrupt, as I find some mysteries to be. This author tied up all the loose ends, and then a full chapter was spent on closure. This was a very satisfying read, and I really hope to read more about one particular character in this story in a future book!

This is the third installment in Kendra Elliot's debut series, Bones Secrets. If you read the first installment, Hidden, then you have already met Michael Brody, the hero of this book. If you haven't read Hidden you should - it is excellent. However, no worries if you haven't read Hidden this installment is stand-alone...Michael's previous appearance in Hidden is only briefly mentioned in this book and it doesn't alter your overall experience.

The author's writing style is extraordinary. Her superb ability to construct multiple seamless storylines overflowing with trepidation, foreboding and unease is remarkable. The dynamic tempo, realistic dialogue, and dramatic descriptions kept this reader engaged. The natural maturity between the storylines, characters, and the subtle romantic undertones of were perfectly executed.

Actually a 3.5 star book
First time I have read this author and I really liked the Bone Secrets series (These should be read in order).
I can easily give the same review to them all.... have a good story, little romance, good mystery and fast paced enough to keep it interesting.
I like a series that has repeat characters but focuses on one main person per book.
My favourite are Mason and Ray

Great and very readable book about quantum non-locality

Amazing story behind non-locality in physics. It's difficult to try to write a book about quantum mechanics - especially about such counterintuitive phenomenon as quantum entanglement - without using a single equation. It would be a great challenge for everyone who have at least basic technical knowledge on the subject. But George Musser handled it with ease. If this is your first confrontation with quantum entanglement, this book will be difficult to read. If this is your first book about quantum mechanics, then this book probably isn't for you and there are many different basic introductory books about QM for laymen you can choose from. This book is for people, who have at least basic knowledge in the field of quantum mechanics and general relativity and who want to learn what these theories means for spacetime structure and its very existence, when they are combined together. This includes science geeks, amateur physicists, people interested in quantum computing and quantum information, undergraduate and postgraduate students studying this field of physics, as well as some university professors from related fields, and in general all people who want to know, where all the struggles with interpretation of quantum mechanics come from. This book provides many different interpretations of quantum entanglement, but the basic idea is, that many different technical approaches to explain it lead to conclusion, that spacetime is an emergent feature of the universe, rather than its building block. Even though English is not my native language, this book was written in a simple English, so I haven't had any struggles to understand what I've read.

A Confusing Discussion of Nonlocality

George Musser delivers us an interesting look here at something called nonlocality in the physics world. Imagine two particles separated by a vast distance. Now imagine that when something is done to one of them, this action is instantly reflected in the other. Sounds spooky, doesn’t it. Actually this phenomenon is seen in black holes, the horizon problem in cosmology where galaxies separated by millions of light years look similar, and, of course, in entangled particles.

The author delves into the history of thought and philosophy concerning the idea of nonlocality. From Parmenides and Democritus of the fifth century B.C.E. and their conception of nature, through Aristotle, Rene Descartes, Newton, Hans Christian Orsted, Michael Faraday, and up to Einstein and other scientists of the twentieth century, we are given the history of thought on the subject. He then spends a bit of time reflecting on the work of many scientists in quantum mechanics and their discoveries and reactions to these strange phenomena.

On negative side, this is the second book I’ve read by Musser, and I find the same style of explanation, which, to me anyway, is somewhat confusing. I just have some difficulty in really getting any clear substance from the material. I think there is too much meandering through all the ideas relating to the concept of nonlocality, and in an attempt to use analogies to make thinks more clear, I actually get more confused.

The book was good in that it introduced the lay person to the incredible implications of nonlocality. However, the experiments that demonstrate the spooky action at a distance phenomena were not adequately explained, and the lay reader is left wondering why any scientist would believe in nonlocality. For example, what is a wave box? What does it do? How does it work?

Fascinating & so well-written

It’s obvious a lot of research & hard work has been put into writing this book, but the author presents it in the most fascinating & comprehensible way possible. And powerfully too: Weintraub integrates her own family experience with cancer. Yet the message throughout is positive & hopeful. Who knew pet dogs (& cats too) are playing such an important role in helping researchers & doctors learn more about treating & curing so many different cancers in both animals & humans? Now we do.

Tracking new methods of cancer research

Cancers have become so prevalent that nearly everyone has been touched by the loss of a loved one, friend or beloved pet. A diagnosis of any sort of cancer still evokes intense feelings regardless of significant medical advances or treatments available.

Arlene Weintraub wrote Heal: The Vital Role of Dogs in the Search for Cancer Cures in response to the loss of her sister to gastric cancer. In the wake of her sister's death, she became preoccupied with unanswered questions. The result is this informative book about the latest in cancer research and dogs. Because of Ms. Weintraub's personal motivation in writing this book, we may all benefit from the knowledge she gained. Her writing about complex medical research is accessible and aided greatly by her background as a published science journalist.

The author brings to light several aspects of the field of comparative oncology and helps explain how clinical trials using pet dogs will reduce the need to use lab animals for medical research. Comparative oncology involves the use of experimental drugs that are actually designed to improve the lives of the animals. These valuable participants get top-of-the-line treatment while contributing to research that may lead to new cures for cancer. The Humane Society International supports comparative oncology for the reason that it aims to help the animals, unlike the drug testing protocols practiced in the past.

Innovation is sorely needed in a field that desperately needs advancements. Nine out of ten experimental drugs that cure lab rodents of their cancers fail in human trials. Texas A&M...was part of a rapidly expanding network of academic veterinary centers that recruit pets with cancer for 'translational' research—studies that have the potential to speed up the search for a cure for humans."

The author profiles the stories of some of the dogs and their people who contributed to the ground-breaking studies that began in 2001 at UC Davis. There is fascinating detail about the medical research of this period and the challenges of getting funding for new drugs and bringing them to market. At the end of the book there are numerous resources on various foundations for further information.

This book would appeal to people interested in the technical aspects of on-going cancer research both in humans and dogs. I was also drawn into the parts of the narrative that touched on the shared human feelings of love and loss due to these all too prevalent diseases. I was left wondering if the author would write a memoir giving an in-depth look at her own experiences that would no doubt have as much an impact as this book.
